It’s OK to sleep with your infant child. It actually can be beneficial.
Everyone has their own opinions on best practices when it comes to parenting and sleeping. Me? I will do whatever it takes to get through the night. When Shamus was a few weeks old, we could not put him down once he fell asleep. He needed to be held in order to stay asleep. This went on for weeks and weeks until our beautiful new co-sleeper had finally arrived! It took several days for Shamus to get used to his new Dockatot, but he slowly started to take longer naps out of our arms. Soon after, he started to sleep in the Dockatot during the night. It was MAGICAL!
I quickly learned how often babies needed to be fed, soothed and changed at night. Having my baby close by helped both of us get a more restful sleep. The Dockatot was made to offer a safe, snug and soothing environment for babies. Not only is a good for sleeping, but it is also perfect for playing!
And the best part? It is portable! We traveled to Buffalo several times to visit my family since Shamus was born. As a new mom, I often read blogs about other new moms’ experiences. These included many horror stories about how much traveling can disrupt your baby’s sleep! Thankfully Shamus continued to sleep well in his Dockatot no matter where we were. In fact, he slept his first few 8 hour nights while we were on vacation!
Recently Shamus grew out of his Dockatot Deluxe. Our experience was so positive that we absolutely had to have a Grand. I am happy to report that our almost 10 month old still sleeps through the night. Yes, he is STILL in our bed, but that’s ok. We will use his Dockatot to transition him into a toddler bed when he is ready. Do I ever wish he would have slept in his crib at night? Not really. I am grateful that he is healthy and happy. I am grateful for all the extra snuggles I get with him because I know these little ones grow up way too fast. Enjoy every last moment.
Now let's talk about beautiful, super soft, machine WASHABLE rugs for the nursery. Yes, they exist! Prior to Shamus' arrival, I would have never guessed so many things could spill on a rug. Between drool, spit up, formula, food and who knows what else, the nursery rug can become stained very quickly. (And I am trying to keep my house looking semi-adultISH). Therefore. I am SO grateful for this gorgeous Lorena Canals Rug. My other favorite part? It is handmade with toxin free dyes. Shamus crawled for the first time on this cushion-y goodness. #iaminlove Lorena Canals will absolutely be on our wish little for any new additions to this family.
