Congrats on making a super baby!
So you just spent the last 9 months growing a tiny human. If you were anything like me, you were careful to eat only things that would promote strength and health in both you and your child! So again, congrats, you made a super baby. Why not feed him superfood?
* Sorry, I HAD to share a picture of my baby boy! This is Shamus Patrick at 5 weeks old!
My husband and I made the decision to feed our little Shamus homemade baby food (once he is able to have solids). Here are just a few reasons why:
1- I want to know exactly what I am feeding my baby! This will help pave the way for healthy meals from the beginning. Making your own food for your baby helps to preserve some additional vitamins and nutrients that may be killed during the heating and preparation of processed foods. Non-organic foods also have a number of preservatives added to increase shelf life. The end result? Baby food that is as far from natural as it gets! Children that have all the nutrients they need learn faster, grow stronger, and suffer less from common illnesses.
2- I can choose my own fruits and vegetables to puree! Avocado is my FAV, and I can only hope that baby Shamus will share my love. You definitely won't find avocado as a choice in the baby food section of the supermarket. When it comes to homemade baby food, all of the tastes, colors, textures and aromas are kept intact!
3- Our baby will be used to eating the same foods as the rest of the family. In the end, this can actually be more economical than buying pre-packaged baby foods. Think about the cost of a single jar of store bought baby food. Then, multiply that by the number of meals in a day (or a month). This number grows quickly! Also, you are helping keep the earth green! Disposable packaging isn't as earth-friendly as reusable dishes.
